How it works

This successful course is now entering it's fourth year online and offers you the chance to study photography and Photoshop techniques from the comfort of your own home or workplace. If you don't have time to go to night class, this is an ideal way of learning.

You can start the course at any time and once enrolled, you get the chance to try your hand at eight challenging projects, specially designed to stretch your knowledge of essential camera and Photoshop editing techniques.

Each project involves shooting and editing and is supported by a number of online step-by-step resources, showing you how to complete the assignments. After completing each project, you simply send your Photoshop files to your tutor electronically, who then responds to you directly with written feedback on your work.

Tutor feedback will provide advice and guidance on how to improve your work and what to consider next time. You'll need to set aside about three hours to complete each assignment, but you can work at your own pace.

Typically, students complete one project per week. The course lasts for a maximum of eight weeks, but you are free to complete the projects faster if you wish.

What you get

Once enrolled, you'll get access to the online learning area, where all the assignments and step-by step resources are held, plus a course handbook explaining how to submit work. After sending work to your tutor, you will receive written feedback for each assignment.

What you'll need

To start the course, you'll need to have access to the following:

a digital camera
a computer with an internet browser application
any recent version of Photoshop
an internet connection.

You'll also need to be a confident computer user, able to store, save and manage your files.
